The fitness industry is self-regulated with many organisations established
to help promote the industry. Additionally, there are many companies
that offer courses, training and qualifications to become a Fitness
Professional.
Historically, each course provider created their own series of courses
and qualifications – consequently there is considerable variation
between course providers in terms of the length and content of the course,
and as a result the level of skill and knowledge acquired by Fitness
Professionals. It is not surprising when people find it difficult to
locate fitness professionals they can trust and compare services across
the board. This is beginning to change with the introduction of the Register
of Exercise Professionals (REPs). REPs has been set up to help safeguard
the health and interests of people who are using the services of exercise
and fitness instructors, teachers and trainers. The aim of the REPs
is to create a framework within which individual instructors can achieve
the highest standards of professionalism linked to best practice in
the exercise and fitness industry. Registration will be achieved and
maintained through the gaining of qualifications and training which
are nationally recognised and which are linked to the National Occupational
Standards for exercise and fitness.

At Catch Fitness we support these initiatives fully. All of our trainers
are fully qualified in Personal Training, Nutrition and Sports Massage
through Premier Training International, the market leader in health
and fitness training. Each trainer has also achieved the highest level
of membership in REPs.
